Airbus (France), one of the largest aircraft manufacturers in the world, plans to organize a training platform for aviation specialists in Kyiv in conjunction with Ukraine’s State Aviation Service. This initiative was discussed at a meeting with Airbus’ regional safety director Yurii Chekanov on 27 May, the Interfax Ukraine news agency reports.

Issues of support for safe operation of Airbus aircraft in Ukraine, organization of educational seminars, workshops, and other events for state inspectors and operators were also discussed.

According to a press release from the State Aviation Service, Chekanov said that Airbus was planning to participate in national courses on internal investigation of operational events at ICAO’s European regional training center for state safety and airworthiness inspectors. Representatives of the State Aviation Service proposed expanding the list of trainings offered with the aim of subsequently establishing a regional training platform for aviation specialists from Ukraine, Moldova, Georgia, and the Baltic countries in Kyiv.

The parties agreed to draft a plan for closer cooperation in the period of 2017-2018, which should include measures for inspectors of civil aviation departments, as well as to work together to prepare the next courses with the participation of Airbus in October this year.
