The Lviv airport may improve air links with Poland. The idea of launching flights between Lviv and Zielona Góra arose after a recent visit to Lviv by the head of the Lubuskie province of Poland, Elżbieta Polak. The Sprint Air airline company, which currently operates the Lviv - Radom and Warsaw - Zielona Góra routes is considered the most likely carrier on the Lviv - Zielona Góra route, the CFTS reports, citing the Polish media Pasazer.

According Pasazer, Polak has already discussed the possibility of launching the new flight with the Lviv airport’s Director Tetiana Romanovska, as well as with the management of Sprint Air, which is ready to support this initiative. Lviv - Zielona Góra flights could be operated on weekends by the Sprint Air because the airline does not fly on the Warsaw - Zielona Góra route on weekends.

The leader of the Lubuskie province believes that the new route could be attractive to residents of the region, who once migrated from the eastern borderlands of pre-war Poland and their descendants.

"The similar Radom - Lviv route operated by Sprint Air enjoys considerable popularity. This is why we believe – particularly in the Lubuskie province, from where it is difficult to get to Lviv – that such a decision could be interesting. In addition, the Ukrainian side supports the idea. The passengers in the opposite direction could be not only people who have family ties with residents of the Lubuskie province, but also those who would like to combine the trip with a visit to Berlin, for example," Sprint Air spokesperson Adriana Fibingier told the Onet.pl portal.

Currently, only one flight is performed to Zielona Góra-Babimost airport – from Warsaw. The flight is operated five times a week. The Sprint Air airline operates a 33-seater Saab 340A aircraft on the route. The average occupancy of the aircraft is 17 passengers per flight. In a year, 10-12 thousand passengers fly on the route. The airport Zielona Góra-Babimost airport received 17,100 passengers in 2015.

Sprint Air currently operates flights to Lviv from Radom. LOT, the Polish national carrier, also flies to the Ukrainian airport. The company operates on the Warsaw - Lviv - Warsaw route.
