The Cabinet of Ministers has approved possible export of coal from the zones of the government’s antiterrorist operation (ATO) through Russia to territories controlled by the Ukrainian authorities. Minister of Energy and Coal Industry Volodymyr Demchyshyn announced this to reporters, the Interfax Ukraine news agency reports.

"There was discussion about export through Russia. Such an issue exists. The vote on it was positive," he said after a meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers.

Demchyshyn said he was talking about export of coal from the conflict zone for delivery to all the Ukrainian power plants that need it.

He added that there are three coal export routes with lengths of 10 to 300 kilometers.
