The Ukrzaliznytsia public railway company and the Kryukov Railcar Building Works signed a contract for supply of 350 freight cars in accordance with the relevant tenders on 18 November. The Kryukov Railcar Building Works will supply freight gondola cars of the model 12-783 with upgraded bogies, which will increase the time between overhaul of freight cars, the Kryukov Railcar Building Works announced.

The Kryukov Railcar Building Works has already begun manufacturing the rolling stock because the customer must receive the freight cars before the end of this year. The first batch of 50 gondola cars is expected to be delivered in early December.

The Kryukov Railcar Building Works has undertaken to implement the agreement within the specified period. Therefore, it is hoping that its partners will deliver the relevant components on time, the Kryukov Railcar Building Works’ Board Chairman Anatolii Shabal said.

According to the Kryukov Railcar Building Works’ supervisory board chairman Volodymyr Prykhodko, this is the manufacturer’s first agreement with Ukrzaliznytsia for supply of freight cars in the past three years.

Gondola cars of the model 12-783 are universal, four-axle, all-metal railcars wagon with welded body, and made of low-alloy steel. They have an increased capacity of 78 cubic meters. They are designed for transportation of bulk, packaged, and piece goods that do not require protection from the weather. The railcars have a load carrying capacity of 70 tons, a design speed of 120 kilometers per hour, and a design service life of 22 years.
