The 620 electric vehicles that underwent first-time registration in Ukraine in the first quarter of 2017 were more than double the 294 electric cars that underwent first-time registration in the same period of last year, the Internal Affairs Ministry announced.

According to data from the ministry, 2,284 electric vehicles were registered in the country in the period from January 2016 to March 2017.

"According to the service centers of the Internal Affairs Ministry, the highest demand for electric vehicles is in Kyiv, the Odesa region, and the Kharkiv region, followed by the Dnipropetrovsk, Lviv, Kyiv, and Zaporizhia regions," said Vladyslav Kryklyi, the head of the Internal Affairs Ministry’s Main Service Center.

The electric transport publication InsideEVs.com recently ranked Ukraine on the list of countries with the fastest rate of development of electric vehicles.
