Ukraine International Airlines (UIA) has begun selling tickets for Kyiv-Chernivtsi flights at prices starting at UAH 604 for one-way tickets and UAH 1,126 for roundtrip tickets, avianews.com reports. Tickets for the first flight on 12 July are already available at the price of UAH 712. For comparison, a one-way ticket for a compartment on the train No. 117 Kyiv-Chernivtsi on 12 July is UAH 337.

The flight timetable will allow residents of Chernivtsi to make day trips to Kyiv, as well as to transfer to other UIA flights at the Boryspil airport.

Flights from Chernivtsi to Kyiv are scheduled to depart at 07:00 while flights from Kyiv are scheduled to depart at 20:10. The travel time is 1 hour and 10 minutes, compared with 11-12 hours one-way on a train.

UIA intends to use a 50-seat Embraer-145 regional jet taken in wet lease from the Dniproavia company on the Kyiv-Chernivtsi route.

As reported, the leadership of Chernivtsi announced in May that it had reached agreement with the UIA on flights to Kyiv. The last scheduled flight from the Chernivtsi airport was in January 2014, which is more than two years ago.
