The Ministry of Infrastructure is working to reform the maritime industry, which should result in creation of the Maritime Administration of Ukraine. Furthermore, the operation or ports will be reviewed.

Minister of Infrastructure Volodymyr Omelian announced this at a meeting on the reform of the maritime industry, the press service of the Ministry of Infrastructure announced.

According to the minister, the Ukrainian Port Authority has repeatedly been a source of complaints about abuse and inefficiency. The Ministry of Infrastructure has invited representatives from all ports and businesses, as well as experts, to consider the steps that are necessary to modernize the industry.

"We are hoping that the outcome of these meetings will be creation of the Maritime Administration of Ukraine," Omelian said. According to him, the key issues also include reform of seaports and improvement of their attractiveness in the Black Sea basin.
