The Infrastructure Ministry is drafting the program to attract low-cost airlines with the help of subsidies or discounts. The minister Volodymyr Omelian announced this at the meeting of the European Business Association (EBA) held today in Kyiv.

"We are working on drafting the program of subsidizing the low-cost airlines or granting them discounts," the minister said.

Volodymyr Omelian noted that the negotiations held with the main European low-cost airlines have shown that they are not ready to enter the Ukrainian market under current conditions.

According to the minister, the key obstacles for budget airlines in Ukraine are the absence of agreement on a common aviation area with EU and the administrative restrictions of National Bank of Ukraine.

However, Ukrainian cities, as Omelian said, have not shown the interest in subsidizing of low-cost airlines for launching flights.
