Ukrainian factories have produced 500 gondolas cars ordered by the Ukrainian Railways public joint-stock company (Ukrzaliznytsia) as of December 22, Ukrzaliznytsia’s Board Chairman Wojciech Balczun has announced.

"As of today, 566 newly built gondola cars orders by us have already left six Ukrainian factories. We received 50 gondola cars from the Popasna carriage repair works yesterday and 100 more will arrive from the Dniprovahonmash plant and the Kryukov Railcar Building Works by the end of the week," Balczun wrote on his Facebook page.

He noted that Ukrzaliznytsia ordered from and financed production of 1,020 railcars by Ukrainian producers this year.

In addition to the abovementioned three companies, railcars ordered by Ukrzaliznytsia are also being produced at the Darnytskyi, Paniutynskyi, and Stryi railcar repair plants.

According to Balczun, this is the largest-scale upgrade of Ukrzaliznytsia’s gondola cars in the past three years. The company purchased only 28 last year.
