The Ukrainian Railways public joint-stock company (Ukrzaliznytsia) is working on a plan to launch a train on the Lviv-Krakow-Lviv route. This project may be implemented in summer 2017.

Ukrzaliznytsia’s Board Chairman Wojciech Balczun announced this on his Facebook page. "There is a good chance of seeing [the train] in the timetable this summer," Balczun said.

Balczun also announced plans to launch a passenger train from Kovel to Chelm (Poland) on 1 July.

Meanwhile, as the CFTS portal reported earlier, the Volyn regional administration is considering extending the route of the Kovel-Chelm train to Lublin. However, the regional administration has not yet agreed a common position with Poland on this issue.

As previously reported, the short-term plan for development of international rail services could include the launch of a Uzhhorod-Kosice (Slovakia) train.
