The Ukrainian Railways public joint-stock company (Ukrzaliznytsia) is introducing a new range of bed linens and other inventory on trains. It plans to withdraw the old woolen blankets, feather pillows, and waffle towels from everyday use. Ukrzaliznytsia’s Board Chairman Wojciech Balczun announced this in a statement.

"The board approved a new procedure on bed linen and inventory on trains yesterday. We expect our passengers to forget about crumpled, heavy, mattresses with lumps of cotton wool, and dubious-looking pillows in the near future. Blankets that bite will give way to new ones made of modern, comfortable environmental materials. ‘Biting’ blankets and feather pillows are history," Balczun wrote on his Facebook page.

In addition, Ukrzaliznytsia plans to abandon the summer and winter blanket options. Instead, it will introduce all-season blankets. "We will also get rid of the so-called waffle towels of the old type. Instead of them, we will introduce terry towels, which are more convenient and pleasant to use," Balczun said.

However, the Ukrzaliznytsia board chairman did not provide a specific date for introduction of these changes. According to him, the changes will not occur in one day.

Balczun recently announced plans to install new toilets in passenger trains.
