The Ukrzaliznytsia public railway company has announced details of the procedure for renaming railway stations as part of the government’s de-communization process.

According to a statement from Ukrzaliznytsia, a text of which the CFTS portal obtained, Ukrzaliznytsia has instructed its regional divisions to start work on renaming railway infrastructure in accordance with the requirements of the law "On Geographical Names."

Next, local divisions of Ukrzaliznytsia will work with local self-governments to agree renaming mechanisms. After this, regional divisions of Ukrzaliznytsia will send the relevant petition to amend the Tariff Guide and other regulatory documents to Ukrzaliznytsia.

Ukrzaliznytsia noted that it is acting in accordance with the Cabinet of Ministers resolution "On Renaming Individual Population Centers and Districts" and its resolution "On Renaming Cities in the Dnipropetrovsk Region," which were adopted pursuant to the law "On Condemnation of Communist and National Socialist Totalitarian Regimes in Ukraine and Prohibition of the Promotion of their Symbols."

As CFTS reported earlier, the Illichivsk Commercial Seaport’s Director Serhii Kryzhanovskyi has revealed that the port will be renamed as the Chernomorsk Commercial Seaport.
