The Ukrzaliznytsia public railway company will begin creating a new company called PJSC Passenger Company, to which control of trains and other assets associated with this mode of transport will be transferred gradually, on 1 January 2017.

Citing an interview that Ukrzaliznytsia board member Serhii Mykhalchuk gave to the Magistral newspaper, the company said that PJSC Passenger Company would be created in five stages.

During the first stage, the company will be created as an affiliate of Ukrzaliznytsia and its provisions and management team will be approved at the beginning of January 2017.

During the second phase, which is scheduled to be completed before 1 April 2017, the assets and liabilities of the production units of the South-Western Railway’s passenger transport service will be transferred to the new company and the new company will begin operations.

During the third stage, the passenger transport units of other regional railways, the Ukrainian Railway High-Speed Company, and other assets will be transferred onto the books of PJSC Passenger Company. This stage is expected to be completed before 1 July 2017.

During the fourth stage, the management divisions of the company will be divided into repairs, operational, commercial, and others. These organizational measures will be implemented before the end of 2017.

"The final, fifth stage will involve establishment of PJSC Passenger Company … on the basis of Ukrzaliznytsia’s Passenger Company affiliate by 2020," said Mykhalchuk.
