The board chairman of the Ukrainian Railways public joint-stock company (Ukrzaliznytsia), Wojciech Balczun, has announced that the company’s revenues amounted to UAH 6.3 billion in January 2017, according to the latest data. This is UAH 1.3 billion more than the company’s revenue in the same period of 2016.

"As a result, the operations of PJSC Ukrzaliznytsia were profitable in January this year. The company transported 28.3 million tons of cargo in January 2017, which is 25% more than it transported in January 2016. Transportation of transit goods increased by 23%, compared with January last year. Railway services were used by 14.4 million passengers, which is 6% more than the data for January last year," Balczun said.

He added that Ukrzaliznytsia paid UAH 904.1 million in taxes and other payments into the budget and government trust funds in January, according to the latest data.

As reported previously, Ukrzaliznytsia made a profit of UAH 303 million on revenues of UAH 78.9 billion in 2016, based on the Ukrainian accounting standard.
