Two bulk carriers chartered by the United Nations’ World Food Program (WPF) have arrived in the ports of Greater Odesa to be loaded with wheat for transportation to Ethiopia, Yemen, and Afghanistan.

The Ukrainian Ministry of Infrastructure announced this in a statement, the CFTS portal reports.

"80,000 tons of Ukrainian food wheat will go toward meeting the needs of countries on the brink of starvation," the ministry said in the statement.

In the port of Odesa, 40,000 tons of Ukrainian wheat is being loaded onto the Bozburun M bulk carrier for transportation to Ethiopia.

The same amount of wheat is being loaded onto the Gokova M bulk carrier in the port of Chornomorsk for transportation to Yemen and Afghanistan.

In addition, as part of the Black Sea Grain Initiative, which established a humanitarian maritime corridor to allow ships to export grain and other foodstuffs from Ukraine, two vessels carrying 27,000 tons of agricultural products intended for Asian countries left the port of Chornomorsk on Saturday, 12 November. As of 12 November, 33 vessels were being processed in the ports of Greater Odesa; 920,000 tons of Ukrainian agricultural products were loaded onto them.

"Since 1 September, 444 vessels have left the ports of Great Odesa, carrying 10.3 million tons of Ukrainian food to countries in Africa, Asia, and Europe," the ministry said.
