The Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi Seaport has signed a memorandum with APM Terminals Poti, a division of the shipping and logistics company Maersk, on cooperation within the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (TITR).
"This is the Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi Port’s first memorandum on cooperation within the framework of developing the TITR international transport corridor, also known as the Middle Corridor," the Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi port’s head Oksana Kiktenko told the CFTS portal.
Kiktenko added, "APM Terminals Poti owns the Poti seaport, the largest port in Georgia. The two private seaports will be connected by a new ferry route and a road-rail ferry complex, which was designed by the new owner of the Ukrainian port and takes into account the cargo handling requirements of the Middle Corridor. The memorandum aims to attract cargo traffic through the Middle Corridor, which will pass through Ukraine via a new railroad route called the Bessarabia Route (Ukraine-Moldova-Romania). This will facilitate the establishment and development of mutually beneficial cooperation between the two ports."
After multiple attempts, the privatization auction for the Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi Commercial Seaport’s assets was successful in November 2024. Top-Offer LLC was the only participant and winner of the auction.
It was later reported that Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi port plans to facilitate the transit of cargo from Asia to the European Union via Moldova and Romania by the end of 2025.
