The Cabinet of Ministers has decided to establish an inter-agency Transit Council, which will engage in formulation of policy on development of transportation through the territory of Ukraine.
According to Minister of Infrastructure Volodymyr Omelian, the relevant decision was made on Wednesday, 10 August. First Deputy Prime Minister Stepan Kubiv heads the council. Members of the council will include the heads of the Ministry of Infrastructure, the Ministry of Economic Development & Trade, the Ministry of Finance, the State Fiscal Service, the State Border Service, and other interested agencies.
"We must ensure coordinated operation of the state mechanism, guarantee a most favored regime and ease of doing business for transit through the territory of Ukraine, export of Ukrainian goods to all countries, create conditions for development of Ukrainian infrastructure and the full return of Ukraine to the world’s transit routes," Omelian wrote on his Facebook page.
According to him, the first proposals on development of transportation of transit goods may be presented as early as September. The council will hold meetings as required, but no fewer than one meeting per month.
