Minister of Infrastructure Andrii Pyvovarskyi held a meeting with European Commissioner for Transport Violetta Bulc in Brussels on 14 September, the press service of the Ministry of Infrastructure announced in a statement.

Pyvovarskyi said Ukraine was interested in liberalization of transportation of goods by road and therefore, he, as a minister, was hoping to begin consultations on preparation of the relevant agreement between Ukraine and member states of the European Union. "With the introduction of a free trade area (with the European Union), the issue of liberalization of transportation of goods by road comes to the forefront," the minister said.

According to him, integration of the Ukrainian national transport system into the European transport network is a "new key task for Ukraine."

In addition, Pyvovarskyi asked Bulc to review the conditions and simplify the procedures for filing applications to participate in EU support projects.

Pyvovarskyi also spoke about transport reforms in Ukraine, paying particular attention to the draft law "On Rail Transport" and the draft law "On Inland Waterway Transport," which were prepared based on European best practices, the press service of the Ministry of Infrastructure said.
