The Kriukiv Railcar Building Works has delivered the final batch of railcars from the 66 railcars that the Ukrainian Railways joint-stock company (Ukrzaliznytsia) ordered in 2023, according to a statement by Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko, the CFTS portal reports.

"Last week I saw them at the legendary Kriukiv Railcar Building Works. This facility manufactures Ukrainian railcars for the railway and metro systems. Their production provides work for 166 contractor companies across the country, including those enterprises from temporarily occupied territories. These create jobs for tens of thousands of people," she said.

The enterprise continues to operate despite shelling and other challenges posed by the full-scale invasion.

The Ukrainian prime minister added that the collaboration between Ukrzaliznytsia and the Kriukiv Railcar Building Works serves as an example of localization, in which a Ukrainian manufacturer receives a state order.

"In such cases, up to 40% of the value of an order is returned to the budget through taxes. It also provides enterprises the opportunity to invest and grow," Svyrydenko said.

As reported earlier, in 2023, Ukrzaliznytsia concluded contracts with the Kriukiv Railcar Building Works for the purchase of 66 passenger cars worth a total of UAH 2.93 billion, to be financed within the framework of the state budget expenditures on the program KPKVK 3101270 "Renewal of Rolling Stock for Passenger Transportation, Construction and Reconstruction of the Infrastructure of State-Owned Economic Entities in the Public-Sector of the Economy" in 2023.
