Louis Dreyfus Holding B.V., which is building a multimodal grain complex in the Odesa seaport, intends to launch the complex in summer 2019.

Representatives of the holding company announced this during a meeting with the President Petro Poroshenko in Kyiv on Wednesday, the CFTS reports, citing the National Investment Council.

"Louis Dreyfus Holding B.V. is currently building a multimodal grain terminal in the port of Odesa successfully. Its launch into operation is planned for the summer of 2019," the National Investment Council said.

Margarita Louis-Dreyfus, the chairperson of the supervisory board of Louis Dreyfus Holding B.V., personally attended the meeting with Poroshenko.

According to the National Investment Council, representatives of Louis Dreyfus said that the company was preparing to broaden its investments in Ukraine in the next few years because of an improvement in the business climate in the country.

The Louis Dreyfus Company has been operating in Ukraine since 1998. It is one of the largest traders and exporters of agricultural products from Ukraine. The company exported 4.4 million tons of cereals in 2016. The company owns grain elevators in the Vinnytsia, Cherkasy, and Zaporizhia regions. It began building the port transshipment complex for grain in the Odesa seaport in 2012, together with Brooklyn-Kiev LLC. The total investment in the project is USD 104 million. The company is considering the possibility of increasing investments to expand grain storage capacities. In addition, according to the Ukrainian Presidential Administration, the Louis Dreyfus Company invested about USD 8 million in road infrastructure in the Odesa seaport in 2017, and it plans to invest in construction of railcars.
