Since the opening of the Ukrainian maritime corridor in August 2023, the ports in Greater Odesa have handled over 146.5 million tons of cargo and processed 5,596 vessels, including 1,528 by the Odessa port.
Dmytro Nazarenko, the head of the Odesa branch of the Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority (USPA), announced this during a roundtable discussion involving maritime and port industry representatives at the Baltexpo 2025 International Maritime and Defense Exhibition in Gdańsk, Poland.
According to Nazarenko, since the beginning of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, more than 500 port infrastructure facilities and 116 civilian vessels have been damaged or destroyed, and 157 civilians have been harmed. Within the Odesa seaport alone, 161 facilities have been damaged.
"Despite all the challenges, Ukrainian seaports remain an integral part of the country’s economic resilience. Their security is not only a matter of logistics but also a matter of survival for Ukraine’s export-oriented economic model," Nazarenko said.
The international conference also featured presentations on the Odesa seaport’s infrastructure projects and plans for their implementation. During the presentation, international investors were invited to collaborate.
