A Cabinet of Ministers resolution that provides for application of the FIDIC system to all road works in Ukraine has been signed. Minister of Infrastructure Volodymyr Omelian announced this on 28 February during the presentation of a CoST verification report on projects financed by international financial institutions.

"I thank the prime minister, who today signed the resolution on application of the FIDIC system to all road works in Ukraine, which was adopted on 30 December 2016. The ministry wants to extend the practice of FIDIC contracts to all major repairs and reconstruction that are also financed with state budget funds, including dredging projects at seaports. Accordingly, we want to broaden the practice of supervision of work progress by an independent consulting engineer, as stipulated in FIDIC contracts,” the press service of the Ministry of Infrastructure quoted the minister as saying.

Omelian added that the ministry wanted to ensure accountability of contractors to citizens and businesses through transparency, encourage and attract more Ukrainian and foreign companies, increase market competition, and extend the practice of transparency to projects financed by international financial institutions.
