The 23rd retro train tour on the Haivoron narrow-gauge railway took place along the railway’s longest route, the Rudnytsia – Haivoron route, on 14 June. The train was pulled by Ukraine’s oldest operational steam locomotive, which was built in 1938.
Oleh Zabludovskyi, head of the narrow-gauge railway and vintage rail equipment division at the Ukrainian Railways joint-stock company (Ukrzaliznytsia), announced this in a statement, the CFTS portal reports.
The steam-powered train traveled nearly 80 kilometers, starting from Rudnytsia Station, the westernmost station on the Haivoron narrow-gauge railway, in the city of Haivoron.
The train consisted of Pafawag passenger cars manufactured in Poland in the late 1950s, Soviet PV-40 passenger cars manufactured in 1982, and several historic freight cars from the past century.
