Ukraine and Poland have reached an agreement on the resumption of the transportation of Ukrainian agricultural products in transit through Poland. The transportation of agricultural products on transit will resume during the night of 20-21 April.

The Ukrainian Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food announced this in a statement, the CFTS portal reports.

According to the statement, additional control measures will apply to the transportation of agricultural products in transit through Poland, and market participants will be notified about them publicly soon.

Representatives of the Ukrainian Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food and the Ukrainian Ministry of Economy confirmed this information at a meeting with business representatives at the European Business Association. The representatives stated during the meeting that the transportation of all agricultural products in transit through Poland would resume at the end of the week. The issue of the sale of Ukrainian agricultural products to Poland has not yet been resolved, including the sale of customs-cleared products (such products will be returned to Ukraine’s customs territory). Regarding other countries, the representatives said that the sale of all agricultural products and their transportation in transit are both taking place officially.

First Deputy Prime Minister/Minister of Economy Yulia Svyrydenko wrote on Facebook that a Ukrainian government delegation traveled to Poland for negotiations when the Polish government’s decision to ban the import of Ukrainian agricultural products was announced.

"We understand the situation of Polish farmers and the Polish side understands the situation of Ukrainian farmers, who are suffering because of the war. After all, the root cause of this situation is precisely Russian aggression, and we will do everything to ensure that Russia does not take advantage of the situation. At the end of our negotiations, it was decided that the transit of Ukrainian goods through the territory of Poland will be unblocked during the night between Thursday and Friday," Svyrydenko wrote.

As reported earlier, the Ukrainian Railways joint-stock company (Ukrzaliznytsia) imposed temporary restrictions on freight transportation to Poland on 18 April. Ukrzaliznytsia explained it imposed the temporary restrictions because it received letters from the Polish railway operators PKP Cargo and PKP LHS stating that the transportation of several cargoes to them had been banned. Ukrzaliznytsia was forced to impose mirror restrictions from 17 April because of this.
