The Ukrainian Railways joint-stock company (Ukrzaliznytsia) plans to transfer the management of its passenger transportation operations to Deutsche Bahn DB Engineering & Consulting (Germany) in 2022.

Ukraine’s Minister of Infrastructure Oleksandr Kubrakov announced this at the "Big Construction: New Railway" forum, the CFTS portal reports, citing the Interfax Ukraine news agency.

"According to the plan, we will transfer the management of our passenger transportation operations to Deutsche Bahn Consulting next year. Let me remind you that Deutsche Bahn has a similar experience in Kazakhstan, and it is quite successful," Kubrakov said.

Ukrzaliznytsia is currently implementing the first phase of a cooperation agreement, which involves the provision of consulting services.

As the CFTS portal reported earlier, Deutsche Bahn is due to present the first results of the measures to improve passenger rail transport in Ukraine in November. A report will be presented with an analysis of the current state of passenger rail transport, the key problems, and an assessment of the solutions to these problems.

As reported earlier, Ukrzaliznytsia and DB Engineering & Consulting signed an agreement on development of passenger rail transportation, optimization of procurement, and renewal of rolling stock in August 2021. The first phase of the agreement, which involves the provision of consulting services, is currently being implemented.
