The average volume of grain that is loaded onto railcars per day has increased by 22% since the resumption of the transportation of grain from the Odesa, Chornomorsk, and Pivdennyi seaports.

This was announced during an online meeting between the Ukrainian Railways joint-stock company (Ukrzaliznytsia) and agricultural market representatives, the CFTS portal reports, citing the Rail Expo publication.

Ukrzaliznytsia transported 47,500 tons per day in August, compared with an average of 39,000 tons per day in July, and this figure is increasing. For example, Ukrzaliznytsia loaded 73,000 tons of grain on 16 August.

Ukrzaliznytsia expects the loading volume to increase significantly in August. Valerii Tkachev, the deputy director of the company’s department of commercial operations, believes that more than 1 million tons of export grain can be transported.

As of 17 August , 731,000 tons of export grain had been transported by rail, including 419,000 tons through overland border crossings and 312,000 tons through ports.

The largest amount of grain is currently loaded at the port of Chornomorsk (more than 100,000 tons). In total, more than 300,000 tons of agricultural products were transported to Ukrainian seaports by rail.

In the first half of August, 808,000 tons of agricultural products were loaded in the Ukrzaliznytsia network while 917,000 tons were exported in July.
