In order to ensure the safety of passengers and railway workers, 11 railway stations (the Nikitovka, Gorlivka, Debaltsevo, Yenakiyevo Khartsyzsk, Makeyevka, Yasinovataya, Ilovaysk, Lugansk, Stakhanov, and Rubezhnoye railway stations) have been temporarily closed on the Donetsk Railway, and they are not serving passengers. Tickets can be bought or returned at any other railway station or on the website booking.uz.gov.ua.

As reported, long-distance passenger trains on the Donetsk Railway depart ​​from the Konstantinovka and Mariupol railway stations because of the destruction of railway infrastructure.

Commuter trains on the Donetsk Railway pass through the railway stretches Mariupol-Volnovakha, Volnovakha-Kamysh-Zorya, Avdeevka-Krasnoarmeysk-Chaplino, Skotovataya-Konstantinovka-Slavyansk-Krasny Liman, Skotovataya-Slavyansk-Bantyshevo, and Krasny Liman-Seversk-Artemovsk-2-Kurdyumovka (all in the Donetsk region). In the Lugansk region, the railway sections Rodakovo-Lugansk, Kommunarsk-Rodakovo, Rubezhnoye-Svatovo-Kupyansk, and Lugansk-Manuilovka are open to traffic.
