The Boryspil international airport has passed a European Union’s aviation security validation that was performed by independent inspectors from Austria, Poland, and Latvia. The relevant certification confirms that the airport meets European aviation security standards, which allows transportation of hazardous goods to the European Union, the press service of the airport reports.

The airport was certified as an RA3 agent (Third Country EU Aviation Security Validated Regulated Agent) as a result of the relevant audit.

The Boryspil airport is the first airport in Ukraine to secure this certification, and it may guarantee better control over the safety of cargo and mail operations. In addition, the airport received the right to independently determine threat levels, control the dispatch of goods to the European Union immediately before they are loaded onto aircraft or transferred to an ACC3 or another RA3 agent.

As an RA3 agent, the airport implements physical control procedures through technical means and other types of security control to protect against acts of unlawful interference and any damage to cargo or mail intended for the European Union.

The Boryspil airport is the largest airport in Ukraine. It has two runways, on which it serves about half of the country's air passenger traffic. There are four passenger terminals and a main and cargo complex on the territory of the airport.
