The Ukrainian parliament has ratified amendments to the Agreement between the Government of Ukraine and the Government of the Republic of Moldova on the Operation of Rail Transport.

The Ukrainian Ministry of Community Development, Territories, and Infrastructure announced this in a statement, the CFTS portal reports.

The adopted amendments will allow trains to transport freight in transit through the Etulia (Moldova) - Reni (Ukraine) - Giurgiulesti (Moldova) railway section without a three-day stop in Reni.

This will apply to rolling stock of all forms of ownership and freight being transported from stations in Moldova and Ukraine or being transported in transit through the territories of these countries to Giurgiulesti (Moldova) and Galati Larga (Romania).

"These changes make it possible to significantly accelerate and increase rail freight traffic between Ukraine and Moldova, as well as to significantly increase the export potential of the Danube port cluster. At the same time, we are focusing our efforts on restoring and developing the infrastructure of the Izmail and Reni seaports to expand their cargo range," said Deputy Prime Minister/Minister of Communities, Territories, and Infrastructure Development Oleksandr Kubrakov.

The amendments will also help increase the capacity of the Frykatsei - Etulia and Reni - Giurgiulesti border crossings.
