The ETC Terminal (Chelm, Poland) doubled its grain transshipment volume to 10,000 tons per day in August 2022.

The terminal achieved this by commissioning a new transshipment machine with a capacity of 500 tons per hour, the CFTS portal reports, citing the REUA publication.

"The terminal has begun transshipping bulk cargo from grain hoppers with the help of specialized pneumatic machines. Because of the limitations of vehicles, we are starting to load shipping containers without hatches with the help of pneumatic devices through the unloading holes," the ETC Terminal’s head Kacper Wieczorek said.

Regarding the bottlenecks in Ukrainian grain logistics, Wieczorek said, "In the case of the Chelm line, the limitation is the Dorohusk-Yahodyn railway crossing, which has three tracks, two of which are used for transportation of goods. The round-the-clock blockade of the 101 line, on which trains run, blocking it for four hours twice a day due to border controls. We have proposed that these checks be conducted on the side track to allow the movement of goods during this time. We are also monitoring the situation at other railway border crossings and we can begin transporting goods via alternative routes, if necessary,"

The ETC Terminal plans to invest in additional warehouse space in the future.

As the CFTS portal reported earlier, the ETC Terminal has begun building hangars for temporary storage of grain, which will later be transported to Spain in containers.
