The Wizz Air Ukraine airline company has decided to reduce ticket prices to stimulate air travel at a time of low market demand, the airline company announced in a press release. According to the press release, the airline company reduced ticket prices by an average of 20% (compared with the average ticket prices on flights from Kiev, Lvov, and Donetsk in the period from February 21 to March 2).

"Low prices will be available to passengers until the prevailing market conditions change,” the press release states.

In addition, the airline company will suspend flights from Donetsk to Rome, Milan, Larnaca, Budapest, and Dortmund on April 30. On the same date, it will launch flights connecting Lvov with Valencia, Rome (Fiumicino), Tel Aviv, Naples, Barcelona (Girona), Kutaisi, and Larnaca.

Passengers whose flights are canceled will be compensated.

According to the press release, Wizz Air Ukraine’s altered network of routes will accommodate 130 flights per week in May 2014, which is similar to the number of flights it operated in May 2013.

As reported, Wizz Air Ukraine decided in early March to postpone the expansion of its aircraft fleet. The airline company expected to take delivery of an Airbus 320 airplane in late April 2014. The company planned to open a third Ukrainian base in Lvov (in addition to its bases in in Kiev and Donetsk) with the arrival of this airplane. The airline company said it still intends to operate in Lvov, using one of its airplanes currently based in Kiev.
