A bridge is planned to be built across the Danube from the village of Orlivka in the Izmail district of the Odesa region to the Romanian city of Isaccea. The project has been incorporated into the Strategy for the Restoration and Development of the Region for 2025–2027, which was published on the Odesa Regional Council's website.

This was reported by the CFTS portal, citing the publication Dilova.

The bridge will be part of the E87 international route, which connects Ukraine with Romania, Bulgaria, and Turkey.

Currently, drivers must take a long detour through Moldova and cross the border twice. The new bridge will shorten the route to Isaccea by about 80 kilometers.

Construction will be financed with over UAH 12.6 billion in international aid over three years. Specifically, UAH 1.26 billion will be allocated in 2025, nearly UAH 3.8 billion in 2026, and over UAH 7.5 billion in 2027.

The project's planned stages include designing the bridge, conducting environmental studies, building the bridge and access roads, establishing border crossings, and connecting to international highways.

The future bridge will have four lanes, sidewalks for pedestrians on both sides, and earthquake resistance up to 9 on the Richter scale.

Access roads 3 kilometers long on the Ukrainian side and 950 meters long on the Romanian side will also be built.
