Ukrainian carrier Supernova Airlines is working on creating a hub at Prague Airport.
Supernova Airlines CEO Yaroslav Krasnozhon announced this in an interview with the CFTS portal.
In early November, Supernova Airlines, a member of the NOVA Group (Nova Poshta), conducted its first cargo charter flight with its own Boeing 737-800 aircraft, flying from Budapest to Chisinau. However, the airline is currently not planning to open a hub in the Moldovan capital.
According to Krasnozhon, although Prague is geographically more distant from Ukraine, it is well-connected by road - everything can be transported on highways.
"We are currently focused on Prague," he said in the interview with the CFTS portal. "For now, we have only one aircraft, so we do not have many opportunities. Nevertheless, we need to start and finish one project, and then we can move on to something else."
According to Krasnozhon, Prague was chosen because the Czech Republic is friendly to Ukrainian companies. "It allowed us to use its airport for flights to the United States. Poland does not want to do this, Romania is not in a hurry either, but the Czech Republic has accommodated us," he said.
According to the Supernova Airlines CEO, such decisions remain at the discretion of each country's aviation authorities, although the airline has a European certificate.
