The winning bidder was the Bulgarian company, Express Service OOD, with which a contract has already been signed.

Before the tender was announced, Ukrzaliznytsia specialists worked to determine the optimal technical parameters of the equipment and the capabilities of its manufacturers. They also prepared all the details of the future agreement with the bank.

In addition to the battery shunting locomotives, the company will receive spare parts for scheduled maintenance during the warranty period.

The contract has a value of EUR 6.017 million.

"Previously, Ukrzaliznytsia did not have such modern equipment. The battery shunting locomotives will be used for auxiliary operations at locomotive depots and container terminals," the company said in the statement.

The first battery shunting locomotives will arrive in the third quarter of this year, and the entire batch will be delivered by the end of 2026.
