1068The Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority (USPA), a state-owned enterprise, has begun implementing two major projects aimed at developing and modernizing port infrastructure.

As reported by the CFTS portal, citing information from the Odesa Regional Administration, the USPA is purchasing a multi-purpose oil recovery vessel for the Danube ports under the Repairing Essential Logistics Infrastructure & Network Connectivity (RELINC) program and with support from the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD). The vessel will perform critical functions, such as collecting petroleum products and debris from the water surface, serving as a harbor tugboat, and participating in firefighting efforts on the water and in the port.

The purchase of this vessel will improve environmental safety and strengthen the region's emergency preparedness, which is especially important during martial law.

The purchase is being made through the Prozorro electronic procurement system in accordance with international transparency standards.

Meanwhile, routine repair work has begun on berths Nos. 15, 23, 26, and 27 at the Reni seaport.

Built in the 1960s and 1980s, these structures have experienced significant wear and deterioration, including cracks, deformations, corrosion of metal elements, and other defects that pose risks to the safety of mooring operations.

The project involves repairing and reinforcing the structures, replacing damaged metal elements, upgrading the mooring bollards and gangways, installing new fendering systems, and applying markings in accordance with current standards.

A contract valued at UAH 12.1 million was awarded through Prozorro, and all the work is being performed without disrupting port operations.

The project is scheduled for completion by the end of 2025.
