Ukraine has signed an agreement with the COSCO company (China), which is one of the world's leading cargo shipping companies. In addition, the Chinese are interested in building grain terminals at Ukrainian ports, the BTB television channel reports.
"We are satisfied with the cooperation with the Ukrainian Grain Corporation (the State Food and Grain Corporation of Ukraine). With the support of the government of Ukraine, I hope that further cooperation will be successful and mutually beneficial,” said COSCO Group’s Chief Financial Officer Sun Yueying, who is responsible for cooperation with Ukraine.
At the same time, Ukraine’s Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food Mykola Prysiazhniuk said that Ukraine has concluded a 15-year agreement and that COSCO will directly transport these goods and that this will provide an opportunity to be competitive on the international market. "And, secondly, they are the ones that will monitor our ports, monitor our waters and suggest the places that would be attractive for new terminals, both grain and freight terminals,” he explained.
The plans of the two sides also include stepping up cooperating in the aerospace industry, particularly joint development and production of a transport airplane designed on the basis of the An-178 aircraft. Ukraine is also ready to supply passenger aircraft of the AN family to China and China is also proposing stepping up cooperation in the automobile manufacturing industry.
Ukraine’s First Deputy Prime Minister Serhii Arbuzov: "As of today, we have a number of proposals from companies on jointly assembling automobiles in Ukraine. We welcome any expression of interest in this area. We are currently negotiating at the level of companies. The government is awaiting the results of these negotiations. They will receive full support from the government in this matter."
As reported, the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food announced in August that Ukraine and China intended to cooperate in the area of fishing. In particular, the two countries plan to implement a project for development of the Sevastopol fishing seaport and begin construction of portside plants on its basis.
