The Nibulon company (Nikolayev) will launch construction of two tugboats under the POSS-115 project at its shipyard in early December, the press service of the company has announced.
Preparatory work for construction of the Nibulon-5 and Nibulon-6 vessels has already begun.
The company has concluded an agreement with the Leninska Kuznia shipyard (Kiev) on cutting of 779.6 tons of metal worth more than UAH 1 million. The first 19 tons of rolled metal that will be used to assemble the base section of the Nibulon-5 tug have already arrived in Nikolayev.
The tug project was designed by the Ukrainian design organization Torola Design Group. The tug, which is intended for operation in Ukraine’s inland waterways, is a mixed-class vessel that complies with the environmental legislation of the European Union. Tugs of the POSS-115 project will operate under the Ukrainian flag. The period of implementation of the project is eight months.
In addition, the company also plans to build a series of river tugs of the POSS-120 project, non-self-propelled vessels of the NBL-91 project, and self-propelled vessels of the Volga-Don Max class at its own shipyard.
Established in 1991, Nibulon is one of the largest operators on the Ukrainian grain market. The company owns grain elevators with a total capacity of over 1.6 million tons, a transshipment terminal in Nikolayev, and a shipyard. Since 2009, Nibulon has been implementing a project that provides for commissioning a total of 17 elevators and river terminals and creating a fleet of 57 self-propelled and non-self-propelled vessels (including 14 tugs) with a combined carrying capacity of 200,000 deadweight tons.
