Polish company Rail-Mil Computers, a subsidiary of Kombud Group, which specializes in railway traffic control systems, and South Korean company STraffic, which specializes in railway infrastructure, have signed a memorandum of understanding on strategic cooperation in the field of railway and subway control and signaling systems.
This was reported by the CFTS portal, citing Kombud.
The agreement provides for cooperation in the South Korean market, which has over 4,000 km of railway lines, including 625 km of high-speed lines. The Seoul Metropolitan Railway System, which serves the capital region, has 1,300 km of rail lines.
"We expect this agreement to lead to success in Korean projects involving Automatic Train Operation (ATO), contributing to the development of urban mobility," said STraffic Director Jahi Kim.
"We are pleased that yet another international partner recognizes the technical advancement of our solutions, as well as the reliability of our engineers and processes," said Małgorzata Rajkowska, CEO of Rail-Mil Computers.
As the CFTS portal reported earlier, Kombud is ready to participate in the reconstruction of the Ukrainian railway infrastructure, particularly by supplying railway signaling systems. Kombud’s Director of International Cooperation Szymon Kniaz announced this to the CFTS portal.
According to Kniaz, such cooperation with the Ukrainian Railways joint-stock company (Ukrzaliznytsia) would be particularly appropriate during the post-war reconstruction period, and modern European railway signaling systems would be a good alternative to outdated Russian systems.
"This is undoubtedly one of the biggest opportunities for us, not only because of the terrible destruction of infrastructure caused by the war, but also because Ukraine used to receive some components from Russia. I am confident that Polish products would be a good substitute. We are open to cooperation. We offer European standards and are ready to facilitate the integration of Ukrainian railways into Europe," said Kniaz.
