A serious incident occurred on a dredging vessel belonging to Delta Lotsman, a subsidiary of the state enterprise Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority (USPA), on the River Danube in the early hours of 24 July.
The USPA announced this in a statement, the CFTS portal reports.
The vessel had 11 crew members on board and was at the Bystre River estuary to carry out scheduled work.
"Three USPA employees were killed as a result of the explosion on board the vessel. The remaining crew members have been hospitalized and are receiving full medical care," the statement said.
The relevant services are working at the scene. Details of the incident are being investigated.
The approach channel to the Bystre estuary is temporarily closed to ship traffic. Ships traveling to and from Ukrainian seaports in the Danube region are being rerouted via the Sulina Canal.
