Interpipe, a Ukrainian industrial company, has shipped 300 tons of pipes for use in the construction of a bridge across the Saale River. The bridge will be part of a new bypass road near the city of Halle (Germany).
The shipment included 219 mm-diameter pipes manufactured to European standards, the CFTS portal reports.
Interpipe has extensive experience in producing pipes for construction projects across Europe, particularly for bridge construction projects. The projects in which the company has participated include a railway bridge in Slovakia and a suspension bridge over the Izmit Bay in Turkey. This year, the company added a new bridge for the A143 motorway in Germany to its portfolio of projects.
According to Marcel Schmitz, Interpipe’s pipe sales manager for European markets, Germany is a major economic and transport hub in Europe, so the country depends on reliable transport routes.
“Most local highway and train bridges were built 40 to 50 years ago and require thorough reconstruction or total rebuilding. Therefore, in the coming years, we hope to contribute to other similar projects included in the German state roads renovation plan, supported by our key customers in Germany,” he said.
As previously reported, Interpipe recently supplied customized micro-piles for the overhaul of a bridge as part of the modernization of a 15-kilometer section of the railway line between Poprad and Vydrník, a project implemented by Slovak Railways.
