The Orlivka-Isaccea ferry service, which connects Ukraine and Romania through River Danube, was launched on August 10.

The Izmail border guard detachment announced this in a statement on its Facebook page, the CFTS portal reports. According to the statement, the ferry service will handle only freight vehicles for now.

According to the Izmail border guard detachment, the Orlivka-Isaccea ferry was launched at 08:00 on August 10. Border guards will process trucks because only they can pass through the checkpoint for now.

As reported, the Cabinet of Ministers adopted a directive on opening the Orlivka international border crossing, which was built on the Ukrainian coast. Work began on the Romanian side only in summer 2019. The launch date of the ferry was postponed several times. Its launch was scheduled for summer 2019 and the ferry’s first test run across River Danube took place on 23 September 2019 with the participation of the border and customs services of Ukraine and Romania.
