The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) is searching premises belonging to Borys Ostapiuk, a former head of the State Railway Administration (Ukrzaliznytsia), and seizing documents. The SBU’s Chairman Valentin Nalyvaichenko announced this at a meeting of the parliamentary anti-corruption committee, the RBK-Ukraine publication reports.
"By the way, I can confirm that with regard to the former head of Ukrzaliznytsia, we are conducting full searches and confiscating documents. Everything is repeated and repeated... It is time to break the corruption trough," said Nalyvaichenko.
According to him, it is necessary to legislatively ensure the transparency of tenders for public procurements and take such a function from the heads of state-owned companies.
It became known on April 8 that the Ministry of Interior Affairs has opened criminal proceedings into allegations by former Ukrzaliznytsia head Ostapiuk and former Ukrposhta postal agency director Vasyl Veselyi that officials of the State Financial Inspectorate were engaging in extortion.
