Turkish Airlines is considering the possibility of launching regular flights to the Ivano-Frankivsk airport, Ivano-Frankivsk’s Mayor Ruslan Martsinkiv announced on his Facebook page.
According to him, the director of Turkish Airlines’ Kyiv office, Mustafa Hakan Yilmaz, has initiated establishment of cooperation with the Ivano-Frankivsk airport. The two sides held talks on Wednesday, 27 January.
Turkish Airlines expects to perform up to seven flights from Ivano-Frankivsk per week. The routes of the future flights have not been disclosed. As a rule, Turkish air carriers operate flights to Istanbul.
The pilot flight is planned for March this year. The route of the pilot flight is still being determined.
The mayor of Ivano-Frankivsk is hoping that the launch of flights by Turkish Airlines will create new opportunities for the city and provide a new impetus for its development. "This proposal is not only extremely interesting to residents of the city, but it is also beneficial to us in terms of promotion and attraction of tourists," Martsinkiv said.
