The Ivano-Frankivsk airport has announced that the Turkish Airlines will launch daily flights from Istanbul to the airport on March 27, when the summer flight schedule enters into effect, avianews.com reports.

According to preliminary information published on the company’s Facebook page, the flight (flight TK437) will depart from Istanbul at 09:05 and arrive in Ivano-Frankivsk at 11:05 while the return flight (flight TK438) will depart from Ivano-Frankivsk at 12:00 and arrive in Istanbul at 14:05.

Ticket sales have not yet begun. The launch of the new flight will significantly broaden the flight opportunities for people in the region, with transfers in Istanbul, because Turkish Airlines has one of the largest route networks in the world.

Ivano-Frankivsk’s Mayor Ruslan Martsinkiv first announced in late January that Turkish Airlines was considering the possibility of launching regular flights to the Ivano-Frankivsk airport after meeting with the director of Turkish Airlines’ Kyiv office, Mustafa Hakan Yilmaz.

Currently, residents of Ivano-Frankivsk can fly to Istanbul with transfers in Kyiv or travel to Lviv, from where Turkish Airlines, Pegasus, and Atlasjet Ukraine operate direct flights to Istanbul.

In addition, Turkish Airlines previously announced its intention to prepare a marketing report that will enable it to determine the feasibility of launching Chernivtsi-Istanbul flights. Yilmaz announced this at an international aviation forum in Chernivtsi.
