Ukraine and China are discussing the future of the project for a railway link between the Boryspil airport and the main railway station in Kiev (the Air Express project). Infrastructure Minister Andrii Pyvovarskyi announced this to journalists, the CFTS correspondent reports.
According to the minister, construction of the Air Express in the form in which it was planned is inappropriate. They money that was reserved in a Chinese bank can be directed to other projects under negotiation.
"The Chinese side has so far said nothing, but we are discussing the possibility of channeling these funds to other projects," said the minister.
As reported, the total amount of a loan from Eximbank of China for financing the Air Express project is USD 372 million: the first tranche of USD 52 million was disbursed in 2013, and it was intended for financing design and preparatory work; the second tranche of USD 320 million is expected to be used directly to finance construction work and purchase
