Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal has announced that Ukraine and North Macedonia are broadening their free trade agreement, the CFTS portal reports.
"I met with Prime Minister of North Macedonia Dimitar Kovačevski today as part of my visit to the Czech Republic to attend the first session of the European Political Community," he said.
An updated annex to the Free Trade Agreement, which integrates the markets of Ukraine and North Macedonia with the markets of the EU, Turkey, Moldova, Georgia, Norway, Switzerland, and Israel through the Pan-Euro-Mediterranean common rules of origin system, was signed during the meeting.
"The agreement will facilitate reduction of the prices of the Macedonian goods that are raw materials for processing enterprises. This is a major advantage for Ukrainian industry since Ukrainian manufacturers can now use components produced in North Macedonia for products that will be sold in the EU," Shmyhal said.
In addition, the agreement liberalizes agricultural tariffs. Ukraine will gain access to the market of products of animal origin and finished products, which will facilitate an increase in the export of Ukrainian agricultural products.
