The Maritime Guard of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, in cooperation with law enforcement agencies, recently detained the Cameroonian-flagged cargo ship USKO MFU in the Odesa region for illegally entering the ports of the temporarily occupied Crimea to perform commercial operations. A court transferred the ownership of the cargo ship to the Ukrainian state.
The State Border Guard Service announced this in a statement, the CFTS portal reports.
The captain of the cargo ship is accused of violating the procedure for entering the occupied territories to harm the state's interests, as any operation in the ports of the Crimea or the Sea of Azov violates international norms and the legislation of Ukraine.
As reported earlier, ports in the Russian-occupied Ukrainian peninsula of Crimea handled over 2 million tons of cargo in 2023.
As reported previously, the Russians are actively exporting stolen Ukrainian grain through Crimean ports. In particular, stolen grain is shipped from Sevastopol to Syria or, for example, Venezuela. From Feodosia, it is shipped to Turkey or Russian ports for subsequent export to foreign markets.
