Ukraine has passed an audit by the International Maritime Organization (IMO), the Ministry of Ministry of Infrastructure’s State Secretary Andrii Haluschak has announced.
"Ukraine has successfully undergone an IMO audit, and it now occupies a worthy place among the world's leading sea powers," Haluschak wrote on Facebook.
He did not provide further details.
As reported, the International Maritime Organization audited Ukraine in the period from June 9 to 18. This was the first IMO audit of Ukraine.
It was reported in July last year that Canada had undertaken to help Ukraine undergo an IMO audit. The audit involved verification of the country's fulfillment of its international obligations on maritime security. The relevant action plan provides for promoting implementation of the relevant conventions in Ukraine and strengthening of public administration in the area of maritime security.
