Ukrainian seaports handled 21.1 million tons of cargo in the first quarter of 2026, meeting 98% of their cargo-handling target.

However, Ukrainian seaports have been attacked, on average, every five days since the beginning of this year. As the CFTS portal reported, citing the Ministry of Development of Communities and Territories, 193 port infrastructure facilities and 25 civilian vessels have been damaged in these attacks.

As is customary, grain accounted for the largest share of the total volume of cargo handled (11.6 million tons), once again confirming that Ukraine continues to ensure global food security. In addition to grain, Ukrainian ports handled 1.2 million tons of metal products, which is unchanged from previous quarters.

The largest increase was seen in container handling volumes. Ukrainian ports handled over 63,000 TEU of containers in the first three months of the year, which is a 43.3% increase compared to the same period last year.

According to Deputy Prime Minister for Reconstruction and Minister of Development of Communities and Territories Oleksii Kuleba, Ukrainian seaports continue to operate under extremely difficult conditions. "Behind these results are thousands of people who ensure the ports’ operation every day despite the threat of attacks," he said.

In the first quarter of 2025, Ukrainian ports handled 20.7 million tons of cargo. In total, over 190 million tons of cargo, including over 110 million tons of grain, have been transported through the Ukrainian Maritime Corridor since its opening in September 2023.
