Ukrainian seaports handled 97 million tons of cargo in 2024, the CFTS portal reports, citing the latest data from the state-owned Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority (USPA).
"Despite constant attacks and destruction of infrastructure, Ukrainian ports set a wartime cargo handling record of almost 97 million tons in 2024," the USPA said in a statement.
According to the USPA, thanks to the Ukrainian Navy, the Ukrainian maritime corridor in the Black Sea remains a reliable sea route that plays a critical role in ensuring global food security.
"In addition, a special role in supporting the country's export potential is played by the Danube port cluster, which, with the support of international partners, remains a reliable alternative for Ukrainian exports," the USPA said.
As previously reported, Ukrainian seaports (those that are operational and not under occupation) handled 62 million tons of cargo in 2023 and 51.2 million tons in 2022. They handled 153.3 million tons in 2021 and 159.1 million tons in 2020 (the two years preceding the full-scale Russian invasion).
